Wind the bobbin up, wind the bobbin up…

Posted on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 in Uncategorized

This is for those of you with small children, ex-small-children, contact with small children or just good memories from childhood.

After all, if I have to endure it going round and round in my head, then I don’t see why you shouldn’t!

Must remember to buy mind-controlling drugs next time my friend brings my Goddaughter to visit.

Mean mother

OK, so how was I supposed to know that this time he wasn’t swinging the lead, this time he really was going down with flu?

Having said that, there’s still a fair amount of lead swinging going on. Too nauseous for toast, lemsip or chicken soup but perfectly fine for cake?

If he’d really wanted sympathy he should have applied three weeks ago in writing.

Woman of a certain age?

Posted on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 in Uncategorized

“Brain scan is normal for a woman of her age”. Now what precisely is that supposed to mean? “Going a bit gaga, but what do you expect?” ??? Actually, that’s probably fair enough.

You’re not supposed to come over all tearful when they tell you your brain scan is clear and there’s nothing neurologically wrong with you. You’re supposed to be relieved. Personally, I’d never really believed that there was anything like a tumour as I was sure there’d be other symptoms, so it didn’t come as a surprise, just a disappointment that it means they don’t have an answer as to why I can’t see properly. It makes me feel a fraud, and yet the vision problems are all too real 90% of the time. Today included.

Now it’s back to the waiting game as I’m being referred to the eye specialist. Wish it were something where I could go back to work in the meantime! Goodness knows how long this will go on. But a sudden brainwave sent me to make an appointment at the optician – even if glasses only improve my sight a little and become obsolete once I’ve seen the specialist, if £25 will buy me the ability to read and write and see just a little more easily it’ll be money well spent.
